Lore in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf covers information regarding the story and setting of the game. This page features the background, origin, and certain detailed elements that that are incorporated into the game that adds depth and introduces players to the backstory and environment of the game. The beginning of the game will most likely follow the events of the Trespasser in the previous game, Dragon Age Inquisition, where players take on a role of a new hero who faces Tevinter, darkspawn, as well as the Dread Wolf, Solas. As hinted by Bioware, Solas is described in different ways, some say he might be an ancient elven god, a betrayer of his people, or a savior who now seeks to rescue his people at the cost of the world. Solas' motives are somehow impossible to interpret and his methods are sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster. As of this writing, not much information is out regarding the true premise for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but the page will be updated frequently once more information has been released.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Lore

Following the events of the previous game, Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Conclave is destroyed by a massive explosion that tears a breach in the Veil, the Veil being the metaphysical barrier separating the physical world from the Fade, which is the realm of spirits and demons. The player's character is the only survivor from the destructive blast, and as a result, a mark appears on the player's palm that has the power to seal the rifts created by the Breach. With this, you are entrusted with using this power to close several rifts and stop the spread of chaos. On the other hand, witnesses claim that you, the player, were led out by a mysterious female figure who is thought to be Andraste, the historical Bride of the Maker, and as a result of patching up several rifts, you are now known as the Herald of Andraste.

Moving forward, Leliana and Cassandra Pentaghast re-establish the Inquisition, a group that was once created to guard against the perils of magic and heretics, by invoking one of the Divine's final orders. Haven began to fall under the attack of the forces led by Corypheus, the ancient Darkspawn mage who had opened the Breach, while the breach was closed with the aid of rebel mages, commonly known as the remnants of the Templar order. Corypheus' assistance from a dragon made it simpple for him to get past the fortifications and confront the Herald.

As the narrative progresses, we find out that Corypheus referes to the mark as the Anchor and that he wants to use its power to physically enter the Fade in order to achieve apotheosis, or change himself into a divine being. He uses an elven artifact in a form of a magical orb to attempt to remove the Anchor, but the Herald sets off an avalanche that buries Haven and wipes out Corypheus' army. The survivors are guided by Solas to Skyhold, an abandoned fortress that becomes the Inquisition's new base of operations, and this triggers an important event in motion in which the Herald is chosen to serve as the Inquisitor, the leader of the Inquisition.

The Inquisitor and Hawke then embark on a mission to investigate the disappearance of the Grey Wardens, where they learn that Corypheus is manipulating them in raising an army of demons. As a result of this encounter, the Inquisitor engages in combat with the Wardens and enters the Fade, which causes his/her memories to return. The Inquisitor then stumbles onto a ritual being performed on Divine Justinia V by Corypheus and comes in contact with the orb, they realize they have obtained the Anchor at the Conclave. As things progress, Hawke and their Grey Warden ally sacrifices themselves to help the others escape the Fade, which causes a situation where the Inquisitor must decide whether to kill or recruit the remaining Wardens.

As a part of your mission to try and resolve the ongoing Orlesian civil war and recruit Orselian forces, you, the Inquisitor, also attends a ball at the Winter Palace. After the events of this mission, the Empress' arcane advisor, Morrigan, joins the Inquisition as an Imperial liason. She then advises the Inquisitor to proceed to the Temple of Mythal in order to prevent Corypheus from gaining an Eluvian, an artifact that could enable him to enter the Fade. Following their arrival at the temple, and the party escapes with Corypheus through the Eluvian, whic shatters behind them, and the Inquisitor or Morrigan gains control of the Well of Sorrows, a store of magical energies tied to the elven goddess Mythal.

Later, it is revealed that Mythal is actually Flemeth, the mother of Morrigan, and that whoever drinks from the Well of Sorrows not only gains the knowledge and wisdom of Mythal's former servants, but also binds them to her will. The party also learns that Corypheus's dragon is the key to stopping him. As Corypheus prepares to open the breach, the Inquisitor approaches him. A fight ensues, and Corypheus and his dragon are eventually killed, closing the Breach forever. In the process, the orb that was being carried by Corypheus becomes irreversibly damaged. This starts the encounter. The Inquisition returns to Skyhold to celebrate their victory, and we also witness a horrified Solas who vanishes after collectiong the said artifact.

As an epilogue follows that is being narrated by Morrigan, we discover the following decisions made by you, the Inquisitor, throughout major decision-making events, and a post-credit scene, it also follows a post credit scene where we find Flemeth and Solas, who is the Dread Wolf Fen'Harel, known to be a dormant deity figure and the original owner of the orb. By allowing the artifact to be in Corypheus' possession so that it could be unlocked on Solas' behalf, which means Solas indirectly contributed to the Inquisition's events. After their meeting, Solas petrifies Flemeth and appears to absorb Mythal's power.
